DCF’s 3-day Project Finance Seminar was successfully held on August 25, September 1 and September 8, 2018 (Saturdays) at the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. It was attended by 33 participants.
Day 1 was handled by Dr. Joel Yu, current UP Associate Professor and former Chief Regulator of MWSS. He discussed key tools for Project Finance – Capital Budgeting, Cost of Capital and Capital Structure.
PPP Project Development Service Director Lawrence Velasco handled Day 2. Participants learned to distinguish between Project Finance and Corporate Finance and delved into the heart of Project Finance – Allocation and Identification, Risk Mitigation and Cash Flow Analysis.
Day 3’s AM session was handled by BDO Capital President Ed Francisco. He discussed the various Sources of Financing and their advantages and disadvantages. Given his extensive experience, he was able to give actual examples. In the PM session, Director Velasco took over and tackled a Project Finance case.
Some feedback from participants were as follows:
“Presenter is very knowledgeable and technical on formulas. He’s really good and made topics interesting though very technical for non-finance.”
“The lecturer made topics relevant even to private companies not into PPP/small project developments. The risks were highlighted, which I appreciated the most.”
“Mr. Ed Francisco’s discussion was on a high level, very inspiring. His stories made the technicalities more relatable instead. It was so fun listening to his experience and stored knowledge.”
